Risk associations for intestinal parasites in symptomatic and asymptomatic schoolchildren in central Mozambique

AbstractObjectives Chronic infections by enteric parasites including protist and helminthic species produce long-term sequelae on the health status of infected children. This study assesses potential associations linked with parasite in symptomatic asymptomatic children Zambézia province, Mozambique. Methods In this prospective cross-sectional study, stool samples epidemiological questionnaires demographics risk were collected from (n = 286) clinical settings 807) 17 schools creches aged 3?14 years. We detected using PCR-based methods. calculated prevalence (adjusted for age, sex, house construction, drinking water, latrine use) odds ratios (ORs) logistic regression, after adjusting district, neighbourhood symptoms. S. having no latrine, 2.41 (1.44–4.02); well 1.82 (1.02–3.25), increasing 1.11 (1.04–1.20). Conclusions found high intestinal regardless children's Drinking or river domestic animals, absence contributing factors human infections.
